Biography

Hajji Diriisa Mutumba is one of the founding members of CUCUM. He is very committed and dedicated to the organization and generously contributed his time and money to any given cause. 

Hajji Diriisa was born and raised in Masaka, Uganda. He studied Medical Laboratory Technology at Mulago Medical School where he majored in hematology. In search of greener pastures, hajji Diriisa left Uganda for Kenya, where he secured a job at Nairobi Hospital. Not long after that, a Saudi Arabian Government delegation came to Kenya and recruited him to work as a hematology technologist at King Fahd Central Hospital in Saudi Arabia in 1986.

During his stay in Saudi Arabia, he was privileged to perform numerous umrah and hajj, and these opportunities shaped his future as he continuously draws from the beautiful experience to embody an Islamic lifestyle. Hajji Diriisa later moved to Canada in 2003 and settled in his new home quite quickly. He is currently employed at University Health Network at Toronto General Hospital in the Research Department. Outside of work, he enjoys volunteering and playing lawn tennis; he is an active member at Dentonia Tennis Club on Danforth Avenue.
